companyTrinity Secondary School, Onitsha is a Secondary school for boys and girls, set up by the Archdiocese of Onitsha to train students to greater heights. It aims to produce and send into the   world stout young men of academic excellence and moral rectitude. Its motto: “For God and Humanity” speaks for itself.
The founding fathers of Trinity Secondary school were as follow: His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Stephen N. Ezeanya (late) Archbishop of Onitsha (1985 – 1995); Bishop Emmanuel Otteh (late) then Cathedral Administrator who later became the Bishop of Isele – Ukwu.
Trinity secondary school, Onitsha, took off in October 1993 with fifteen members of staff.
The first principal of the school was Mr.  Obiora Michael .O. He was a strict disciplinarian and seasoned administrator. He laid the foundation for the growth of the school.
Classes started in 18th October 1993 temporary in one floor of the famous shanahan Hall. The school was horridly equipped to off set the effect of starting late in October. The school started with a total of 120 students on the roll allotted into three classes.
The pioneer students of the school entered for the junior secondary school Certificate Examination (JSSCE) in 1996. Seventy four students wrote the examination and recorded one hundred percent pass.
Again in 1999, the school presented for the first time twenty six (26) students for the West African School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The performance of the students in that examination was excellent.
The fortunes of the school dwindled between 2005 and 2006 as a result of massive decline in male enrolment in the school. This scenario was not peculiar to Trinity Secondary School alone. It was a general trend in the whole of Anambra State then.
This ugly development was corrected through repositioning of the school through the recruitment of seasoned teachers, enforcement if strict discipline and sound moral education. It was during this period that the school was made co-0educational institution in 2005.
Other past managers and administrators who contributed to the growth of the school were very rev. Fr. John Uzuakpundu, very rev. Fr. Martin Onukwuba and very rev. Fr. Marius Obiagwu – the first Rector of the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity Onitsha. The incumbent Rector, very Rev. Fr. Francis Nwokedi Ezumezu is now piloting the affairs of the school.
Towards the first quarter of 2007, the school was forced to vacate the famous Shanahan Hall to its present location – Immaculata primary school premises. Were it not for the quick intervention of the Archbishop, His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Maduka Okeke and the former Rector of the Basilica, Very Rev. Fr. Marius Obiagwu, the school would have fizzled out.
Over the years, the school has found its feet again. The school population has grown by leaps and bounds. Today the school population is roughly 700 students. It is envisaged that the school population will increase more rapidly in the next few years.
The school has eighteen class rooms, two administrative offices, and two standard staff rooms.
The science departments- Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Agricultural Science departments are well repositioned and equipped. Each department is headed by a well qualified and competent teacher.
The school was and is still doing well in sports. The school has won laurels in sports competitions organized by both the sports department of the Archdiocesan Education Commission and the State government.
Trinity secondary school is nineteen years old today. It has produced and sent to the world numerous gentlemen and women of academic excellence and moral rectitude.
